Them Squirrels are Nuts!

Alright, I'm breaking my blogging silence to bring you this special report:

This afternoon, a daredevil squirrel was seen chewing a rope attached to a bird feeder.  The squirrel, who apparently LOVES birdfood, realized that instead of climbing all around to get to the bird food and then hang precariously on the edge of the feeder while getting scarcely a crumb, it would be easier to drop the feeder and have floor level access.

And that he did.  I just wish I had a video camera.  One second I look out the window and notice the squirrel chewing the rope (matter of fact, I said to Kim, shortly before it fell, that it appeared that the squirrel was doing just that).  Then, as I was watching, the bird feeder fell, with squirrel on top.

I quickly got up to look to make sure we didn't have a dead squirrel on our hands.  You see, the bird feeder hangs off our second story lanai (for those of you up north, lanai is a fancy Florida word for balcony).  Fortunately for the squirrel, it fell onto our lanai instead of plummeting into the fenced in area of our neighbor's below.  He survived, and proceeded to eat a bunch of bird feed.  I'm sure he'll be back to continue his meal later.

In other news...

We were concerned that our A/C was broken beyond repair.  It's an older unit, and we're waiting for it to die any day.  Well, yesterday, it stopped cooling the house and we were sure that D-Day was here.  I called my A/C guy (Gary from King's Air Conditioning) and he came over as soon as he could.  It turned out our freon just needed charging.  He fixed us up and our house is cooling back down by the second.  Yay for Gary, a great guy.  If you live in Southwest Florida, I highly recommend him if you're having any A/C problems.

And yes, I know I promised church sign pictures soon.  I now have a couple; I just have to download them to the computer.  But to give you an idea, I'll type out this week's (because I didn't take a picture of it yet, and they'll probably change it out tomorrow):

Become an organ donor...

Give your heart to Jesus.

Yeah... and that's not the cheesiest I've seen on their sign (and other church signs in the area).  More to come...

That is a funny church sign! My favorite one I ever saw was on the way to Xenia--

Moses was a basket case.
